LOIRE VALLEY COTTAGES

The estate has been in the Sauve family for five generations. It is set in 175 acres of grounds consisting of garden, landscaped parkland, forest, and farmland. Accommodation is of the highest quality, elegantly furnished, with each unit designed to promote its individual character. Careful conversion of an estate cottage and stables ensures the character of a beautiful country estate has been retained, whilst providing a unique holiday setting.

We received guests for the first time in 1986 when the main house downstairs apartment was first opened (Chateau Bas). From this moment a continuous programme of renovation began resulting in refurbishment of the rest of the chateau, followed by the stable block and then the cottages.

The outstanding grounds of landscaped parkland were first designed more than eighty years ago, with imported trees such as the Japanese Tulip and unusual varieties such as the 20 metre tall Magnolia trees. More recently the grounds have benefited from the addition of the following facilities:

Boules area.
Giant chess set. Adults bicycles.
Children's swings.
Children's adventure playground for the very young 2-7 years.

During peak season we usually have a student available to baby sit if required and organize Kids Club activities.

Cars have restricted access to the central area of the grounds and so children can roam in a safe environment. Also, importantly, both of the pools are fenced with secure gates.

With children entertained in their own world of adventure - described by guests as something from 'Swallows and Amazons' - adults find time to enjoy the forest walks, or borrow the bikes and explore local lanes. More often than not most take the opportunity to relax on a sun lounger with a book, a glass of wine and plan the evening barbecue.

The local village is 2 kilometres away for local supplies, however every day we have bread and croissants delivered at 9.00 am to all the units.
